Nestled in the Riverina Highlands Region of New South Wales, Kestrel Nest EcoHut offers an immersive off-grid retreat combining luxury with environmental consciousness. This thoughtfully designed accommodation, situated on Highfield Farm and Woodland’s 830-acre property, provides guests with a unique opportunity to disconnect from modern distractions while experiencing sustainable living.

Named after the remarkable Kestrel – the sole surviving bird species following the devastating 2019-20 Black Summer Fires – the eco-hut features panoramic double-glazed windows, solar power, and an outdoor bath, all while overlooking protected Box Gum Grassy Woodland habitat.

Their story

Kestrel Nest EcoHut emerged from Louise and David’s vision to create a sustainable sanctuary that harmoniously blends farming with conservation. After leaving their city lives in 2012, they transformed an old cattleman’s hut site into an off-grid retreat on Highfield Farm and Woodland. Today, it offers guests a unique opportunity to disconnect from modern life while experiencing ethical farming practices and the protection of endangered Box Gum Grassy Woodland habitat, all while enjoying panoramic views and luxurious off-grid comfort.
