Wilderness Bisate Reserve is a luxury Wilderness property beside Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. Its forested hillside setting overlooks the Virunga Volcanoes. Recognised in Architectural Digest’s 2025 Great Design Hotel Awards, the reserve offers a refined base for gorilla trekking and primate encounters.

The property features four Forest Villas, each measuring 212 square metres. The small scale ensures privacy, attentive service, and individually tailored excursions.

Every villa includes panoramic views, a wood-fired hot tub, and a dedicated trekking mudroom. Interiors blend Rwandan royal influences with contemporary comfort.

Health-conscious dining, immersive nature experiences, and conservation activities complete the stay. Guests are surrounded by regenerating forest and dramatic volcanic scenery.

Their story

Wilderness Bisate Reserve was created as the sister property to the award-winning Wilderness Bisate Lodge. Its vision combines Rwandan heritage, thoughtful hospitality, and environmental restoration.

Wilderness has actively reforested and rehabilitated the surrounding land to restore habitats and strengthen the local ecosystem. The project also benefits neighbouring communities through employment, partnerships, and conservation programmes.

Best Time To Visit Wilderness Bisate Reserve

  • The best time to visit Wilderness Bisate Reserve is during Rwanda’s dry seasons, from June to September and December to February. These months offer the most favorable conditions for gorilla trekking and hiking Mount Bisoke, as forest trails are less muddy and easier to navigate. However, the lush rainforest setting and rich birdlife make it a spectacular year-round destination.
