Their story

Pine Brae was founded by Blair Copland and Connie Higgs, inspired by sustainability and land stewardship. Blair’s vision was inspired by his diverse background, including childhood experiences with tented safari camps in Kenya and Zimbabwe, and quintessential Canadian outdoor adventures.

In 2012, he purchased 100 acres of vacant land, and together they embarked on building an off-grid home and wilderness-based livelihood. After 8 years of development, Pine Brae opened in 2020. As pioneers in off-grid living, they built their home as a prototype for the cabins. They found that sustainable methods lowered long-term costs while helping them preserve wild places through eco-tourism. Read more about them.
