The lodge’s architecture pays homage to traditional West Coast longhouses, featuring comfortable rooms with ocean views, modern amenities, and a communal great room where visitors gather to share stories of their daily adventures.

Their story

Spirit Bear Lodge was established by the Kitasoo Xai’xais First Nation as a model for Indigenous-led ecotourism. The lodge offers exclusive access to pristine wilderness and cultural sites within their Traditional Territory. Over two decades, it has evolved from a community dependent on resource extraction to a leader in conservation-based tourism, employing 10% of Klemtu’s residents. The lodge reinvests profits into local stewardship efforts and cultural revitalization programs.

Today, it stands as a showcase for sustainable Indigenous tourism, creating meaningful connections between visitors and the ancient lands while protecting the territory for future generations. Read more about them.
