Nestled in the untamed heart of British Columbia’s Chilcotin region, The Chilko Experience Wilderness Resort offers an exclusive luxury wilderness retreat 200 miles from the nearest grocery store. This intimate log cabin hideaway, set against a backdrop of ancient glaciers and crystal waters, provides unparalleled access to 5 million acres of pristine wilderness.
The resort features six unique, custom-built luxury log homes, each appointed with antique furnishings and modern amenities. Operating seasonally from May to October, the resort offers world-class grizzly bear viewing, fishing, hiking, and kayaking, while delivering exceptional farm-to-table dining and personalized hospitality. Here, where grizzlies outnumber humans and eagles fill the skies, guests experience authentic Canadian wilderness in ultimate comfort.
The Chilko Experience Wilderness Resort was established by Phil and Anne Huston in 2000 when they purchased an old guest ranch in British Columbia’s remote Chilko Valley. After spending two summers there with their family, they embarked on an ambitious five-year build project in 2002. Their vision was to create a luxury wilderness lodge that would connect people with nature at the highest level. Working with master craftsmen from Pioneer Log Homes (of HGTV’s Timber Kings), they constructed six unique log homes using finest red cedar and furnished them with Anne’s extensive antique collection. Located deep in the wilderness and entirely off-grid, the resort offers an unparalleled experience that blends luxury accommodations with sustainable practices and authentic outdoor adventures.
