Their story

Founded in 1931 by Tommy Walker, a young Englishman seeking adventure, Tweedsmuir Park Lodge began as one of the first wilderness lodges on Canada’s West Coast. The site was chosen based on an ancient Indigenous legend of a wolf who found “Stooick” – a pleasing place to rest, now known as Stuie. After the original lodge burned down in 1953, Colonel Corbould rebuilt it, with elements still standing today. In 2008, new owners transformed the property into an eco-conscious wilderness retreat, adding modern amenities while preserving its historic charm.

Now the lodge continues its legacy of providing exceptional wilderness experiences while maintaining strong commitments to environmental stewardship and local community support in the Great Bear Rainforest. Read more about them.
