Bwindi Lodge overlooks Uganda’s ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, one of the world’s best places for mountain gorilla trekking.

The lodge features ten hand-built guest bandas, including eight standard and two deluxe rooms. Each offers a private terrace with panoramic forest canopy views.

Guests enjoy Volcanoes Safaris’ signature Afro-chic design, personal butler service, and complimentary treatments at the Humula Forest Spa. A private footpath leads directly into the national park for gorilla trekking. After a day in the forest, guests can relax at the award-winning Bwindi Bar with a signature Gorillini cocktail or a local Rolex wrap. Every visit also supports a hospitality training program for local youth.

Their story

Praveen Moman founded Volcanoes Safaris in 1997 to pioneer gorilla and chimpanzee ecotourism in Uganda and Rwanda. Bwindi Lodge opened in 1999 and reflects the company’s Afro-chic philosophy, combining contemporary comfort with local craftsmanship and respect for African culture.

Volcanoes Safaris believes conservation succeeds when local communities benefit from tourism. The company donates $50 from every guest night to the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust (VSPT), a non-profit established in 2009. The trust funds long-term community projects that improve livelihoods, reduce human-wildlife conflict, and protect great apes. Read more about them.
