Part of the Volcanoes Safaris collection, Kyambura Gorge Lodge sits on the edge of Uganda’s Kyambura Gorge, near Queen Elizabeth National Park. The eco-lodge offers close access to the sunken rainforest ecosystem known for the “Lost Chimpanzees of Kyambura,” along with sweeping views across rolling savanna toward the distant Rwenzori Mountains.

Eight elegant, hand-built bandas feature Afro-chic styling, reimagined local artifacts and views facing either the dramatic gorge or the open savanna.

As part of a wider conservation-focused safari company, the lodge combines wildlife experiences with community engagement and low-impact design. It creates a thoughtful base for conscious travelers seeking an authentic African safari experience.

Their story

Kyambura Gorge Lodge was born from the Kyambura Gorge Ecotourism Project, representing a remarkable transformation from a former coffee store into a conservation-focused luxury retreat. Built as part of a pioneering ecotourism initiative launched in 2009, the lodge reflects a vision of sustainable tourism. Its model directly supports ecosystem protection.

Through the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust, the lodge has become instrumental in safeguarding one of Africa’s most important areas for biodiversity, working closely with local communities and establishing partnerships with organizations like the Jane Goodall Institute Uganda to ensure the survival of the threatened chimpanzee population.
