Their story
Creta Maris Resort was founded and is still owned by the Metaxa family, who have deep roots in the area’s history. Established in 1975, it was the first five-star hotel on the island of Crete and one of the very first hotels to open on the island, setting the standard for luxury and hospitality in the region.
The resort is built on the site of an ancient settlement, part of which is still visible and preserved. The founders’ vision of offering heartfelt hospitality while respecting the local environment, community, and culture is ever present.
Designed like a charming Cretan village, the resort feels like a world of its own, with winding paths, traditional architecture, and its own array of seven restaurants, 16 pools, and multiple activity spaces, creating a vibrant community for guests to explore and enjoy. Read more about them here.
