Casa Cubuy Eco Lodge, located in Eastern Puerto Rico, offers a serene and awe-inspiring experience surrounded by the rainforest. Guests can relax on the terrasse overlooking the Cubuy River, enjoy a natural swimming hole, or unwind in a hammock amidst giant tree ferns and wild orchids. Situated on the south side of the mountain, Casa Cubuy offers a peaceful alternative to the bustling North side of El Yunque Rainforest.
Adjacent to Casa Cubuy is Sierra Palms, which provides accommodation options for large families and groups, including a 1000 sq ft common area to organize yoga retreats, meetings, or weddings. This secluded mountainside eco-lodge in Puerto Rico offers privacy and a private path to the rivers below as well as access to trails leading to prehistoric Indian rock carvings.
Casa Cubuy Ecolodge is co-owned by Marianne Kavanaugh LaForce and her son, Matthew Cobb Kavanaugh. Marianne relocated to Puerto Rico from Miami in 1960 with her six-year-old son, Matthew. In 1972, she purchased the property, initially using it as a weekend retreat. In 2000, they expanded it and turned it into an eco-lodge with 11 private rooms (with a shared kitchen) offering breathtaking views often immersed in the clouds due to its elevation.
Marianne Kavanaugh is a true source of inspiration for the people at Casa Cubuy. Born in 1929, her unwavering passion and dedication have kept her as active as ever, fearlessly scaling the hillsides of the rainforest and successfully managing the bed and breakfast. Read more about them here.
